Spam protection filter[edit source]
Hello, Ciencia Al Poder! My name is Stranger195 and I am having trouble with welcoming new users. I typed "{{subst:welcome|Stranger195|~~~~}}" into a new section of NellieYvq37941's talk page and it won't work, triggering the "SPAM (3)" filter of Anti-Wikia Alliance's spam filter. Hey, did you know FANDOM because leftist?[edit source]
Mar8122: Did you know FANDOM became social justice warrior and PKMNLivesNew? All I see in this website is you guys complaining about the "Monaco" skin? What's so special about that skin? I mean, I didn't came here for the skin. I came here to tell you guys that FANDOM when SJW. Can anyone believe me, already!? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mar8122 (talk • contribs)
- Well, the Monaco skin was the start. This is like the boiling frog metaphor. We raise our concerns about this, but many people said that was over-reaction. Now look at wikia. Lack of customization, restricted MediaWiki namespace edits, forced portable infoboxes, forced features that were later discontinued... I know nothing about SJW, really (and I'm not interested) --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 18:48, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
- And I sincerely thank you for keeping the wiki (mostly) about stuff like this. To many young people who just come here to yell crap like "FANDOM EXPOSED" and "SJW" rather than posting anything useful or interesting for people actually wanting to leave Wikia and looking for help doesn't help anyone. That said, Portable Infoboxes weren't forced on everyone. Nukapedia and Narutopedia both decided to not use them and Fandom left them alone, at least for now. Knowing them it's hard to tell how long it'll last, but it's something.--Jordan D (talk) 02:32, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
- What? This wiki doesn't care about SJW? But social justice is the major issues for FANDOM, more worse than Monoco skin (to be fair, I personally dislikes that skin this wiki using). -- Mar8122
- Poder, you do realize SJWs exist so here. https://rottenwebsites.miraheze.org/wiki/Social_Justice_Warriors --Angrybirdsfan

About creating new wiki in Shout or Miraheza[edit source]
Can anyone transfer the content from Fandom Wikia even if you are not the admin or mod ? --Shout007 (talk) 06:02, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yes. Wikia still hasn't disabled Special:Export, so you can export all the contents even if you don't have an account. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 20:29, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have exported the latest XML dump, but what about the Images. --Shout007 (talk) 01:36, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- For Shoutwiki you may ask staff if they can do that for you. Otherwise, you may use a software like WinHTTrack to scrape all files (you'll need to fine tune it to download only images). Another option is to use grabImages.php from Grabbers to download them. You'll need to upload them manually, or with the help of a bot like pywikibot. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 20:17, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have exported the latest XML dump, but what about the Images. --Shout007 (talk) 01:36, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- The XML database dump, Is just getting "Current pages" XML is okay or is it better to get "Current pages and history", because "current pages" XML is around 340MB whereas "Current pages and history" XML is like 20GB, is there any legal constraints regarding the content attribution. --Shout007 (talk) 08:28, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
- and also can you export only pages edit history from past few days, like custom duration of page history or is it just "Current pages" and all "Current pages and history". --Shout007 (talk) 15:04, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
- You can't import even the 340MB dump to Miraheze or Shoutwiki yourself, because the upload size is very limited and that's quite a lot of content, and will take a lifetime to import from the web interface. It depends on the license, but CC-BY-SA or GFDL requires full attribution, and you should import the entire contents. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 21:15, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have asked the sys admin to Import it, about the grabImages.php, when I run the script, It says you need maintenance.php, which I don't understand, I am new to php. --Shout007 (talk) 05:00, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- Those scripts need a complete MediaWiki installation. I don't know if it will work if you don't have an actual usable MediaWiki instance... --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 19:09, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- Ok I installed mediawiki and got some php scripts running but still getting errors, is there any link where its shown step by step. --Shout007 (talk) 04:58, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
- No. That script was designed some years ago and it may not have been tested for compatibility to recent MediaWiki versions. I don't have time to review that. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 16:44, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Possible suggestion[edit source]
Since you are the only active admin here, I have a suggestion. I wonder if we should fork this wiki over to Miraheze, since that way we might get more traffic. I really want to revive the Anti-Wikia Alliance, but I just want to know if you would approve of forking this wiki to Miraheze. And we don’t necessarily have to shut this wiki down, just fork it. ShoutWiki doesn’t seem to be very active nowadays. Also, Miraheze has several benefits: It has hundreds of extensions and fifteen different skins, one of which I think is Monaco. Also, Miraheze has no ads, and is completely free. I think that it would be a good idea if we forked this wiki there, but I just wanted to ask for your approval, since you are the only active admin. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:09, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Blubabluba9990! This wiki is not very active and we have currently no problems with it being host on Shoutwiki. Forking would only cause an unnecessary confusion to readers that come here from search engines or links. Forking always comes with a cost (I know it very well) and I'll avoid that unless necessary. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 21:40, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- Ok. I was thinking that we could move it to make it more active. I really want to revive this wiki, as I have discovered that ShoutWiki itself is mostly inactive: the only contributions to the main wiki have been user creation. It doesn’t seem like there are many users coming here in general. Though there are other ways: We could always have the links redirect to the Miraheze version, or say on the main page that the wiki has moved to Miraheze, though I am open to other suggestions as to how we can increase activity and traffic. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:47, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- How a host change could make users more interested in editing, or attract traffic? The opposite is usually true for changing hosts. On the other hand, this wiki doesn't need to be active. Most of the topic is already covered, and it only needs small maintenance when a new wiki forks. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 22:59, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- It isn’t necessarily the content I am worried about as much as the fact that the Anti-Wikia Alliance seems to be declining in popularity, and I don’t want the AWA to die. There are only a few active users. And ShoutWiki in general seems to be declining in popularity, since like I said, there are very few edits on the main wiki itself apart from user creations. I really want to revive this wiki and revive the AWA. I mean you seem to be the only active admin here, as Airhogs and Smiley are inactive, and Anno04 seems to have returned but something tells me that he is not the real Anno04 because he seems to just be spamming. Also Airhogs came back briefly in 2019, but that may not have even been him, it could have been that his account was hacked. I feel like if we did move to Miraheze, more users would join the AWA. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:08, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- Still, this is a wiki, it doesn't really matter where it's hosted. Being hosted in Miraheze or Shoutwiki makes no difference in user activity. Of course, users having an account on any wiki hosted here or there will automatically have an account on AWA without the need to create a new one, but I don't think this benefit (which is moot because most people create accounts on any website without problems) is sufficient to move this wiki to Miraheze. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 09:42, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
- Well there has to be some way we can get more recruits and revive the Anti-Wikia Alliance. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 19:55, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
User:Blubabluba9990 i like the idea. You have only been editing here for 7 days. Psychologically people tend not to take advice from people who they just met. I always give HUGE ideas, and I am viewed with suspicion, Especially here in Moscow.

alternative wiki farms[edit source]
Hello, it appears as if:
- 1: I cannot create any new wikis here (you deleted my alert about this on the main template), and also
- 2: many of the wikis have moved.
Other than this list, https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Hosting_services of free hosting services, do you have any suggestions for an alterative?
I signed up for:
- https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Hosting_services as the person above suggested. And i am waiting.
- http://www.wiki-site.com/ doesn't work (I am in Russia and it is hosted by Isreal and America)
Thanks. Anno1404 22:01, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I follow you. Your alert was not about creating new wikis, but a random wiki page that doesn't exist here. I think all wiki hostings are already covered. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 23:26, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry again. I was aspiring to make this wiki. I guess the ability to create new wikis is now broken? how has it been the past 5 years? Anno1404 05:32, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Miraheze is probably the best wiki hosting service. They offer hundreds of extensions, fifteen different skins, they are completely ad-free, and they have very helpful staff who respond very quickly. If you want to move anywhere, move there. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 00:51, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Looks like CreateWiki is down since September. Shoutwiki is probably not under active development. It's currently functional but not accepting new wiki creations. I agree about Miraheze being the best host currently, although it was closing wikis that have been inactive for more than... 3 months? I don't remember. Is this situation still a thing? This could make a personal project wiki fall into a suddenly deleted wiki when you want to check back after being inactive for a while. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 09:02, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Yes it is a thing, though that is only if the wiki has had no activity, and you actually can request your wiki to be exempt from dormancy, and it being a wiki that is only meant to be read is one of the main reasons. But this wiki still has a little bit of activity, so it won’t go dormant as long as there are enough edits. Since this is a personal project wiki like you said, the stewards would probably accept it being exempt from dormancy. So yeah, I feel like moving this wiki to Miraheze might be a good idea since it seems like what you said is correct: ShoutWiki doesn’t seem to be actively developed. Also, I think Miraheze is a good hosting service simply because they are a foil to FANDOM, and I think that some of the Miraheze staff actually dislike FANDOM, so they kind of align with our ideology. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 19:20, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Just to be clear: I'm against moving this wiki from Shoutwiki, as I said before. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 23:10, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

!vote[edit source]
As one of the "co-founders" of the AWA, who edited here before the founders edited here, I !vote that the dormant wikis here be moved to Miraheze. Shoutwiki can remain as a legacy site. We appreciate Ciencia Al Poder keeping the lights on, *so much* but it is time to build elsewhere.
- Reasons why:
- No new wikias can be created (biggest issue)
- The wikia is dead
- bulk upload is unavailable.
Alternative solutions:
- I suggest that I create my wiki on this page www.awa.shoutwiki.com/Dok-Tok
- User:Blubabluba9990 actively emails all old users
- bulk upload is enabled. MsUpload.
- I get back bureaucrat and admin rights on my bday April 16. (48 years old)

- When will I be able to post new wikias here? It is broken.
- how long has it been broken. Thanks. Anno1404 15:07, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- I am not sure, but Ciencia said that wiki creation has been down since September of 2020, and she also said that ShoutWiki might not be being actively developed. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 22:11, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- Wikia is now FANDOM. If for creating "new wikias" do you mean creating a new wiki on Wikia or FANDOM, you can do so by requesting one on their website. If you talk about ShoutWiki, I'm not a ShoutWiki staff, but you can ask them for clarification. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 12:47, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- I think he means here on ShoutWiki. Also you said that ShoutWiki wasn’t being actively developed, and I agree, because I haven’t seen much activity from staff. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:24, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
We won[edit source]
Apparently, FANDOM is implementing a new skin that gives more content space, and includes a dark mode: https://community.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:MisterWoodhouse/Introducing_FandomDesktop,_the_new_look_and_feel_for_desktop_users
Now it hasn’t been implemented yet, but this means that after 10 years, FANDOM has finally listened to us!
Though since you and Anno1404, the last remaining AWA members, are banned indefinitely and your accounts are disabled, you may not be able to return.
My reaction: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cUZNXgIXM1c
Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:59, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
- I won already when I took the wiki I was editing out of wikia, and it's now a big success. I'd say maybe all remaining users won, but wikia is still wikia and interfering with community decisions. This hasn't changed at all, as you can see on the latest Wookiepedia issue from less than a month ago. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 18:27, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- True. We got one of our wishes, but as time went on, Oasis was no longer Wikia/FANDOM’s biggest problem. But considering the AWA was formed on the basis of the Monaco skin, we kind of got our original wish. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:59, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
