Hello. I am the head Bureaucrat of the Advance Wars and Battalion Wars Wikias. I am wishing to migrate both off of Wikia for the reasons that I will outline here. There is evidence to the problems that I won't provide here out of concerning reasons, only reserving the display for private contact with people I can trust, but the evidence does exist, and I do have support who would be able to corroborate about it and had already led me here. I would rather get all the important information down first and foremost.

Quick list[edit | edit source]

Per suggestion by the person recommending me here, I have a list of Wikias I would like to see move off of Fandom, with some quick notes about my relation about each of them:

  • Advance Wars Wikia (head Bureaucrat there, other relevant Bureaucrat agrees with decision to migrate away from the Wikia)
  • Battalion Wars Wikia (only relevant Bureaucrat there)
  • Secret of Evermore Wikia (Bureaucrat purely by Adoption, power unused for reasons stated below; advised to contact DrakeyC about this)
  • Divinipedia (not Bureaucrat; wanting to see a new Kid Icarus Uprising "Divinipedia" outside the current heads' controls; all I would need would be safety from bad actors' behaviors, in addition to maintenance list page convenience)

Background premise[edit | edit source]

The basic premise? Fandom's staff butted into politics in the Advance Wars community and went directly against my efforts to combat a sexual assailant that is now heavily ingrained into the Advance Wars community.

There's plenty to unpack but I'll eventually get to Fandom's role in this.

For those who don't know, the sexual assailant is a user commonly referred to as "Mangs" who was ingrained into the Fire Emblem community in the latter half of the 2010s. He was popularized with people claiming him to be entertaining, while being notably inept. He also notably involved influence where women in the Fire Emblem community would make sarcastic "a creeper is coming to my town" remarks and whatnot--showing stalker fantasies IOW. I had been willing to talk with Mangs in 2015 or 2016 if only because he could provide content for Advance Wars, but he shared no such sentiment in return, proving instead to be hostile mixed with willful indolence and even subjected me to troll images such as "let the butthurt flow through you" while hiding behind how the admin of the Advance Wars subreddit was willing to Report shame in support of Mangs' trolling. By mid-2017, I was actively against Mangs for the long-lasting damage that this had done.

The years would come to prove me right for calling Mangs out as an unrepentant lecher in testimony I attempted to provide in 2018. In early July 2020, 2 Fire Emblem community members Goosaphone and Chaz Aria LLC went up against Mangs for not showing support about mental health and thereby breaking Goosaphone's trust for good after Mangs had already sexually assaulted him. Mangs attempted to intercept the effort by Goosaphone and Chaz Aria LLC to "cancel" him, by posting a YouTube Community Post on July 4, 2020, stating that he had a bad childhood with no clarification on what was problematic, in addition to claiming that he provides "escapism." The Post showed up on my Recommends, likely because of his "(H slur) mad" video mocking detractors of Byleth in Smash Bros. Ultimate that was on my nerves, and I came in to call out Mangs for as much, unaware of anything involving Goosaphone, with a resulting thread of over 20 comments, the most of any thread before 4 days later, when Goosaphone came out with her story and a bunch of people then did the same. The stories by Goosaphone and her support, bolstered by overwhelming evidence, were enough to get Mangs banned from the bulk of the Fire Emblem community, but thanks to allegations toward Chaz Aria LLC creating chaos in the ranks, Mangs was not banned from all of it, or even the bulk of the Advance Wars community. There's a video by Mekkah titled "Mangs & July 2020" that covered about the general situation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8JDGEx0A-Q

Unfortunately, like I say, Mangs still has a grip on the Advance Wars community, which is what brings up the community politics involved. He has the top search result for "Advance Wars" on YouTube to this day as a result of being allowed to be integrated into a fan project called "Advance Wars By Web" by its heads, who had proven willing to delete things like Nyvelion's post reporting about abuse toward Yuki Kitsune by a Yandere, just for an ineffective attempt to censor my efforts to call out the problems. The post is Web Archived here: https://web.archive.org/web/20210717093316/https%3A%2F%2Fisndev.forumotion.co.uk%2Ft657p25-who-s-still-here-roll-call

Mangs also has the support of lower key members, including people who are on the Advance Wars subreddit subtly advertising him and even spreading about Mangs' "missile-chan" meme. Unfortunately, the Advance Wars subreddit is interested in being a parody of anybody who is genuinely against Mangs, and will instead slander those who make actual effort to combat Mangs such as evidence presentation. They will even commit to extensive con jobs to make sure that claims like how Mekkah allegedly did inappropriate behavior to minors, claims started by troll nest sites, become the "truth."

As the head Bureaucrat of the Advance Wars Wikia, I had made efforts to combat this disgrace. Unfortunately, Fandom did not like what I got up to and fully blocked me from their network for a full month, on charges of "harassment", over a blog post detailing about the issue.

Let that sink in: a full network block for a single community's politics.

If you don't get it, even if the "harassment" claims could hold up, keeping in mind that I have been subjected to harassment, including slander campaign vandalism of my user page half a year prior to the block by the same characters, the full network block was absolutely draconian. Unfortunately, Fandom is in league with GameFAQs, one of the sites that also supports Mangs, having bought out GameFAQs sometime back and even having SBAllen as an admin, so an appeal attempt would have done nothing.

It is abundantly clear that Fandom indirectly supports Mangs, and therefore is not to be trusted.

Countermeasures[edit | edit source]

The solution is obviously to have the Advance Wars and Battalion Wars Wikias fork Fandom. By doing this, I could provide a major announcement that could also bring to light the atrocities of the involved people: GameFAQs, Fandom, Advance Wars By Web, and the Advance Wars subreddit. Unfortunately, the real problem is that the bulk of the Advance Wars communities would not support such a move. I can also point out that BigKlingy, a YouTube content creator who wanted to provide an alternative to Mangs' content for Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp, is unwilling to provide ANY response to my own efforts.

However, there is hope. The other key Bureaucrat of the Advance Wars Wikia, Toravirus15, is firmly against Mangs and, although he hasn't publicly show it, also firmly disagreed with Fandom blocking me, showing shock and disgust when he saw that having happened. He even did the edit he made the same day my block happened on my prompting to keep the Wikia safe from being hijacked by one of the nastier characters via the Adoption process. He had also enlisted aid in setting something up, even if that has yet to pan out because of how busy I have been with things like Super Mario RPG, and I also learn that people are none too happy with Fandom for other reasons. For that, I can still provide a unique reason. I even learned about the Anti-Wikia Alliance because of another user whose aid I have right now.

Now I do have to call out an apparent clear-cut solution in getting the support of NIWA, and that is because of one problem: Wars Wiki has a policy against covering anything related to translation patches. I found that out talking to their admin to make sure that they would disallow Mangs' content, and unfortunately, an unofficial work embargo has an exact opposite problem even if we ignore the politics already involved, which does bring up that something I'm involving in the Readmes of my work for Game Boy Wars 3 is jabs at Mangs and other such issues to help bring the problems to attention. What we would want is a happy medium.

We would want to establish ground rules of what may be cited as a source or provided as a fan work. Anything that has volatile admins who can IP ban users from viewing important information or the involved fan work would be disallowed, which would catch Wars World News and TVTropes.org as sites that involve this problem. Any fan work that has its provider clarify in clear view about being against Mangs, such as a competent public statement with clear effectiveness, would also be deemed invalid, to prevent them from hiding behind Discord server usage that already has the above problem. Game Boy Wars Network, already simply an information site, would be exempt from this due to that place following the first rule and being a Japanese site mitigating their involvement with Mangs. The major fan works will get no such lenience regardless of even GBWN saying anything. Additionally, to close a loophole, usage of sites such as Romhacking.net or a YouTube channel by an unreliable figure will be deemed insufficient for being accepted.

OptiRoc's Super Famicom Wars translation patch, despite having me scratching my head about its graphic change choices, will not have to worry about these policies, since by all indications, it won't break the policy. My own work on Game Boy Wars 3 would also get a free past since I already show myself already working against Mangs and also having reliable ways to provide information as a key figure, to say nothing of how even if the other Advance Wars communities could still try to argue me to be a case of Screw The Rules I Make Them, they would only be hypocritical to do so after their own abuses of power.

The whole plan, outside of the politics, would be to have a new and improved place that could have spruced up formatting. Obviously I would need help with that, especially when image importation will be a nightmare, not to mention the key page setup. Even then, however, if we could have the sort of formatting that MythrilZenith's "Unit Design 101 - Wyvern Knights" video displays especially with the Iron Axe tabling used there, preferably off of Fandom, then we could have an appealing site. Addressing the politics would also make the new destination a safer place.

Other issues[edit | edit source]

Leaving Fandom in general is going to have to be done, so I would have to cover about other Wikis while I'm here. Thankfully, none of them involve Mangs, at the very least not directly.

Discounting anything relating to tropes, which has the sites about them involve cases of the Horseshoe Theory and would be their own issues anyway, there are two other Wikis that I would particularly like to see also off of Fandom. I would put the count at 3, but unfortunately, the third site would have a user named QwertyXp2000 wanted to be an INCREDIBLY abrasive victim-blamer hiding behind power.

First is the Secret of Evermore Wikia. Secret of Evermore, for the SNES, is an all-time favorite of mine, helped by how its design encourages thinking about how us Squishy Wizard humans can operate with physically more inclined animal allies. Last I checked, I became a Bureaucrat there, but this was by Adoption, resulting in a mess, and it was ultimately done for a stupid and lazy reason on my part, that I was wanting to have access to key maintenance pages for lists such as broken redirects. Because of that, I haven't done anything with the Bureaucrat power. I would not need to worry about hostile people there, which otherwise would be my only other real concern. DrakeyC runs the place and while he feels the job is complete, as I implied, we could have better formatting and everything. If he is contacted about Fandom's issues and he decides to fork as a result, as long as I have the maintenance list pages readily available and a functional account to make use of the list, that's all I need, even if clean formatting options is something we'd want to have too.

The other site is Divinipedia, the Wikia for the Kid Icarus series. There should be a new one, and preferably run by new admins, since the ones on the Fandom one are questionable. More than anything, I would want a Divinipedia version that has clean formatting options, once again readily available maintenance list pages, and most importantly, a safe space for being able to handle stuff relating to Kid Icarus Uprising. I should mention that Kid Icarus Uprising's community has a decent chunk of its significant remains be reminiscent of the Advance Wars community, though thankfully with a key person named Abraxas being actually a decent person, more than what I can say about GipFace in his victim-blaming a lust-induced murder victim and claiming Advance Wars Re-Boot Camp, and indirectly Famicom Wars by extension given the subject, to have "diversity for its own sake." Let me make this clear: I wouldn't necessarily need admin power as long as I have a safe space and the ability to spruce up the place as need be, in addition to the Blog post entries.

Before you point out about NIWA having the Kid Icarus angle covered, Icaruspedia is not a suitable substitute. I talked with that place's admin. They're not willing to allow for improving the formatting as I suggest. I can't work with that.

So hopefully that covers everything I want to say. I can, of course, edit this later for anything I missed and whatnot.
